Spyro fan, redandblack64, recently created a fanmade level on Bunndragoness' Spyro Spaghetti engine that allows Spyro fans to create their own PS1-style Spyro levels and potential fangames. RedandBlack's submission is a 3D remake of the Autumn Fairy Home from the Gambeoy Advance title, Spyro: Season of Ice.
This level was covered by Spyro influencer CrystalFissure, and it prompted me to eventually try out the game myself.
For fans of Spyro: Season of Ice, they will find familiarity with the level layout but experience it in an entirely different perspective. The original game on the Gameboy Advance was designed to be top-down, but in this fan-made remake you can see the home world in third person much like the main console game titles. The low-bit soundtrack is remastered for this fan creation but is still faithful to its original composition. The water in the middle of the home world also doesn't give Spyro an instant death; instead you can actually swim and even dive underwater to get gems.
The level is still incomplete at the moment, with Hunter's dialogue letting players know they may already know how to jump and glide. Bianca even makes an appearance at the first inactive portal, hinting at more levels being planned. At the moment, the interactive pumpkins from the original game can't be lit up with Spyro's flame but will be in a later update.
For now, fans can experience a taste of what a Season of Ice level looks like in 3D.
