Who is the new villain in Spyro: A Realm Beyond?

In the announcement trailer for Spyro: A Realm Beyond, we are given a glimpse of the villain who will be featured in the new game. We could only see his clawed hands, his cloak, horns, and his menacing glowing staff. Fans are currently speculating about the identity of this new antagonist.

Toys For Bob Studio Head, Paul Yan, mentions in his interview with Xbox about what kind of threat this character will pose to Spyro on his upcoming adventure:

Paul Yan: A big reason why I love Spyro games is that they are ultimately joyful, dream-like experiences full of charming, quirky friends and Spyro: A Realm Beyond certainly builds on that important foundation. In the showcase announcement trailer, you may have noticed that we are introducing the threat of a new antagonist in this story, and his presence will raise the stakes. He will challenge Spyro’s abilities and push him to new emotional depths that will see Spyro grow as a hero. It’s a story full of heart and I can’t wait for you to experience this new journey.

Then there's also the story summary on the official trailer's video description:

When Spyro finds himself stranded, his journey to discover a way home is interrupted by the arrival of a vicious invading force known as the Scavs. Spyro must make new allies and rise to protect this realm before it’s changed forever. Feel the freedom of flight as you soar above vibrant landscapes, weave between treetops, dive off massive landmarks and wing your way through this new realm in Spyro’s boldest evolution yet. Carve your path through the skies and chain together dives, climbs and tight turns as you navigate the world your way. Crafted by Toys For Bob, this is a new evolution of Spyro, built to send the purple dragon soaring higher than ever before.

From how Paul describes him, this new villain sounds more darker and competent than some of the recognizable villains in the classic Spyro games, like Gnasty Gnorc, Ripto, the Sorceress, and Red. It's also likely this villain will be leading the Scavs that will threaten the world Spyro is stranded in.

Before the reveal of the villain's gender, fans assumed it was a new interpretation of Cynder, a popular Spyro character who originated from The Legend of Spyro reboot and was later reintroduced in the Skylanders franchise.

It is possible that this villain is a new interpretation of the Sorcerer, a villain from the last classic Spyro game installment, Shadow Legacy

Or a new interpretation of Malefor, a character from The Legend of Spyro reboot that was based on the Sorcerer.

Some think it's a new counterpart of Red, the first Dragon villain in the Spyro franchise.

Whoever the new villain is, I'm hoping he's worth the wait. I'm interested to see what his presence and potential will bring out in Spyro next year for A Realm Beyond
