The Ring of Heroes are Disbanding

The game developer, Com2Us, announced that Skylanders: Ring of Heroes will stop its services on February 28th, 2022.

We would like to thank all our players and communities for all their incredible support for the game, and let you know that, with a heavy heart, as of “Feb. 28th, 2022, KST”, the game will no longer be in service. 
As a part of the termination procedure, all in-game packages will be removed on “Dec. 30th, 2021, KST”, but players can continue to play and use their currencies/items in the game until the termination date. 
Refunds will be available for those who have the paid currencies left in their accounts for a certain duration after the termination.

Spyro Reignited Trilogy PC - Space Spyro Mod

The release of the Gasmoxia Grand Prix in Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled has increased fan demand for the Space Spyro skin to be added as a PC mod for the Spyro Reignited Trilogy. The modding community were unable to add it as a mod right away due to the difficulty of attaching a character rig to the Space Spyro model. Despite this explanation the modders was constantly pestered by the impatient portion of the Spyro fanbase.

In response to the constant fan demands, the modding community held off the Space Spyro release, lacking motivation, and made the requests for the mod a jokey meme in their discord server for a time. Nearly two years after the Gasmoxia Grand Prix release, the long-awaited Space Spyro Mod was finally released to the public after the modders got the model working.

 

Spyro Reignited Trilogy PC - Enter the Dragonfly Mod

A Reignited Trilogy PC mod is in production by the Spyro modding community. It is set to be based on Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly and will be reusing assets from Reignited.

 

 

Hunter the Cheetah was considered for Skylanders

According to Paul Reiche III, Toys For Bob considered reintroducing Hunter the Cheetah as a Skylander in Skylanders: Giants, but chose not to to avoid more backlash from Spyro fans and to make way for more original characters.

Personally I wouldn’t mind Hunter as a Skylander. He’d probably play similar to Flameslinger or the Bowslinger Skylander Senseis or Imaginators if they kept his bow and arrow. Hunter may even share Hugo’s dislike for sheep, a reference to Classic Hunter and the sheep saucers. X3

 

Toys For Bob Hosts Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure 10th Anniversary

For the tenth anniversary of Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure, Toys For Bob posted a flurry of images related to the game, including characters, prototypes, and their 3D printer they used to test out 3D printed figures. They even posted concept art for their mock cover of Spyro's Kingdom. 

For such an occasion, they did a livestream on their prototype build of Spyro's Kingdom.

Series 4 Cynder Scrapped from Skylanders: Trap Team roster

Skylander fans recently discovered a Series 4 Cynder protoype figure found in a 2017 Toy Fair Interview video. 

For those who are unware, Series Skylanders are characters that are given new toy reposes and given a new ability called "Wow Pow". The Skylanders released for the first time are "Series 1 Skylanders". If they are given another toy figure for another Skylanders game installment, they are called "Series 2"; if given a third repose, they are called "Series 3" and so on. 

Spyro and Cynder were only given Series 1, 2, 3 figures since they were chosen for the rosters of Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure, Giants and Swap Force. Apparently Series 4 Cynder was chosen to be part of the character roster for Skylanders: Trap Team, so far in development that a figure was made, but in the end, was scrapped.

Dark Spyro being one of Spyro's "notorious enemies"

 In the Crash Bandicoot: On the Run Spyro event, Dark Spyro is mentioned as one of Spyro's enemies.

"During Season 2, Dr. N. Tropy was banished and left open a portal to the Dragon Realms, letting in the dastardly Dark Spyro and Gnasty Gnorc – who have since taken over three Spyro-themed lands. The much loved hero soon followed, but the portal to the Dragon Realm was broken in the process. It’s now up to Crash Bandicoot and Coco to defeat Dark Spyro and Gnasty Gnorc and help Spyro repair the Dragon Portal.^"

But he hadn't appeared in the old classic Spyro games nor has to make an appearance in a new Spyro game. Hmmm.... Let me know your thoughts in the comments below.

Female adult Dragons in the future?

I know we had more female dragons in the old classic Spyro games after the OG trilogy, notably in A Hero's Tail and Shadow Legacy. But I'm more open to the idea of the developers actually looking into why there were no female dragons in the original trilogy and we only got female baby dragons from Spyro 3.

Insomniac Games mentioned that they had no female voice actors, there was a limited hired voice cast and the lack of technical hardware that could allow differences between male and female dragons.

Now with the evolution of technology and budget, we have a chance for that, especially after how Toys For Bob handled the creativity for all 74 adult male dragons. Devon Cady-Lee mentioned that he and the art team of Reignited proposed to TFB about lady dragons for Spyro but never went through with it as it was too inconsistent with the original Spyro trilogy that only had male dragons.

Do you think they could explain why the female dragons weren't around in the original Spyro trilogy and Reignited in a new game? It's possible. I can see them introducing female dragons like Ember, who was around Spyro's age in the old games. They can also reintroduce Cynder if they choose.

Cynder's Character Development in The Legend of Spyro and Skylanders

Several years ago I reached to Jared Pullen, the lead concept artist at Krome Studios of The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning and The Eternal Night about Cynder the Dragon and how she came to be:

"Cynder was one of those rare opportunities to create a female villain character that was both unique and fresh design wise, but also felt as if she had been a part of the Spyro mythology for quite some time. She certainly seems to have resonated with so many Spyro fans out there, whether that's from her Gothic design sensibilities or the fact that she has an interesting back story in terms of her origin, I'm not entirely sure.... but whatever the case she definitely is a compelling character within the realm of Spyro, and has pretty much become a mainstay within it.

Nowadays where there's Spyro, there's Cynder it seems.... and it gives no end of satisfaction to have played a part in it, however small that was 😀 The real credit for Cynder's design must go to the very talented Mr Bruno Rime, who was my lead at the time and overall Art Lead on the first Legend Of Spyro title. The story called for 'a powerful and shadowy dark Dragon' to be Spyro's nemesis for the first installment of TLOS trilogy, beyond that no specification was given and the starting point was very loose. It was Bruno who determined that this villain be female and a Black Dragon at that too... as the Dragon villains previously fought in the earlier Spyro titles were generally red coloured. [...]
